"Bear in the Garden"
Mother's Day Match Stage

by Piney Woods - SASS #29887-L

Scenario
After doing all the laundry, sweeping out the cabin, and baking a pie, you decide to go out for a ride on Lulubelle. As you clear the ridge on your way home, you spot a big ol' bear diggin' in the garden and a flock of buzzards on the roof of the barn. You ain't the type of woman to let no bear get your vegetables, so you unlimber the Winchester and go to work. Scarin' off the tater stealin' varmint, you turn your attention to the buzzards.

Ammo
10 Pistol, 9 Rifle

Starting Position
Seated on horse with strong-side pistol safely holstered, and weak side or crossdraw pistol safely in saddle holster, each loaded with five rounds.

Rifle safely staged in scabbard, nine rounds in magazine.

Procedure
When ready, say "Get outta my taters, ya mangy galoot!"

At the buzzer, using rifle, shoot NEAR the bear nine times. Don't hit 'im; you're only trying to scare 'im off.
(All rounds must impact the berm. Hitting the bear counts as a miss. Missing the bear counts as a hit.)

Make rifle safe. Sweep pistol targets from left to right twice.
