"Bearly Made It"

by Mustang Shorty

Scenario
You've seen bear sign around the cabin recently, so you decide to set out after some stew meat and a good tradin' hide. You've tracked 'im to the foot of a small hill and have a good, clean shot. What you didn't see was a Blackfoot hunting party that's gotten between you and the bear.

When you fire at the bear, your shots alert the indians, who quickly split up, leavin' you to decide whether to fight or lose the bear.

You turn your rifle on the two redskins you see near the bear and cut loose, emptyin' your rifle at 'em.

Not havin' time to reload, you dismount and take cover behind a rock to shoot it out with the rest of 'em.
